ABOUT DAPHNE
Daphne grew up outside of Boston. She has lived in New York, Virginia and now Florida. She writes about Orlando suburbs Winter Park, Maitland and Eatonville for the Orlando Sentinel. Her favorite activities include taking naps, strawberry picking and scouting new breakfast spots. She is very excited to be marrying her very best friend Etan.
ABOUT ETAN
Etan grew up outside of Philadelphia and has been gradually moving south since he went to college at the University of Maryland. He’s the technology reporter and columnist for the Orlando Sentinel. He likes to play soccer, basketball and racquetball, watch movies and listen to talk radio. He always knew that a girl like Daphne was out there for him, but didn’t know when he’d find her.
HOW WE MET
Etan was assigned to take Daphne to dinner when she came to interview for a job at the Sentinel in February 2005. When Daphne moved to Orlando in May, Etan was very nice to her and called before she even started work, to invite her out with his friends. Soon after they met, Daphne invited herself to Etan’s apartment complex to go swimming. She told him to get some snacks, so he did. He got up early that morning and cleaned his apartment, but it was so messy that Daphne didn’t notice his efforts when she got there. They started dating the following month after a writer’s workshop in Ft. Lauderdale.
THE PROPOSAL
Etan proposed on June 21, 2007 on Captiva Island. After a fun day of banana boat rides and relaxing at the beach and pool, Daphne and Etan went out to dinner at the Bubble Room. After a quick stop back the hotel to pick up some champagne, they headed to the beach. Etan popped the question while he and Daphne were looking up at the stars.
