The stars are aligning favorably. We have elected a new inspiring leader, a Democratic Congress and the last two World Series have been won by the teams of the Bride (Red Sox) and Groom (Phillies).

While Daphne and Etan are exchanging vows Penn will be beating Harvard to win the Ivy League soccer championship and a berth in the NCAA tournament where they will likely be eliminated by Maryland (by the way their only Ivy loss this year was to Columbia). And for my most obscure soccer reference, this past Saturday my underachieving Tottenham Hotspur side beat previously undefeated Liverpool who hasn't won the English soccer championship since 1989 when Ronny Rosenthal, captain of Israel, was scoring goals for them. Now that Liverpool has acquired current Israel captain, Yossi Benayoun, they should win this year.

Despite my obsession I will be wearing a black tuxedo, not a black referee's uniform, to the wedding.
